Was?
Glückwunsch.
Danke! Echt jetzt?
Wiedersehen!
Wiedersehen…
Ruhe
Kein Telefon mehr
Und jetzt?
.

It was not as easy as it seemed to be yesterday. The competitors took a grip of themselves and started more attacks in forms of unexpected bids for our favorite house in Linnarhult. Time out for the next round. That is really “exciting”. Where will it lead to? How will it all end? At the same time the bidding for the Wednesday house was in full process. Two more competitors here. Karen had to do a Swedish exam today, which wasn’t easy. I got small group lessons today and had to work in the big library after that. Svea got a friend home for the weekend, so I had to pick them up at school – usually our kids manage their way back home by themselves. And we arranged a fika-meeting for tomorrow afternoon with a befriended family in Fiskebäck. Again and again the telephone: “Price for that house is now here. Do you keep up?” Everything in Swedish. It was like holiday, vacation, recreation as Luke and his son Jonathan just dropped in to say Hi from their cycling tour. Luke could sympathize with us after he went through the same stuff some months ago. Good to drink a coffee together and share a big bar of chocolate (I think Luke got just one piece of it). Again, the phone. Pulse and blood pressure rise with the first ring. No, it was no realtor this time. Phone. Realtor. She cannot reach everybody. I should call her tomorrow at nine if I want to continue. I fill up my 14th cup of coffee. Kids, stop fighting, I need to focus on my Swedish homework. Phone. No realtor. Phone. Realtor. Good news. “You can have the house in Linnarhult. Your last bid outbid the other party. Contract will be signed next Monday 12.30. ”
Really?
Congratulations.
Thanks… Is that true?
Good bye!
Bye…
Silence
No phone
And now?
.
This is exactly how we feel right now. We can’t yet take it in…

I am really excited for you, although I understand how exhausted you will be and not able fully to take in the wonder and glory of this fantastic news! – a new house, a new home, a new start, an escape from the tyranny of landlords (and their wives), some certainty and hope and joy and peace and calm after all these days of tension and not knowing where you are. A base, a foundation, a rest. Home sweet home! God bless your faithfulness, God enrich your time together as you relocate. It’s all happening, at last! God is good!
