Noch bevor wir 2006 herzogen, wurde uns gesagt, dass die Kirche in Schweden schrumpft. Damit waren alle Kirchen- und Gemeindeformen gemeint, die es so gibt. Ausnahmen bestätigen natürlich immer die Regel. Aber grundsätzlich musste man feststellen: Der Leib Christi (das ist die biblische Bezeichnung für Kirche und Gemeinde), unter welchem Namen er auch immer auftritt, wird kleiner. „Wir brauchen neue Ideen!“ wurde uns wörtlich gesagt. Wir sind nach wie vor davon überzeugt, dass die biblischen Wahrheiten und insbesondere die gute Nachricht von Jesus auch im 21. Jahrhundert, vielleicht sogar gerade jetzt, bekannt bleiben sollten. Deshalb wollten und wollen wir:
- wie ein weiβes Blatt Papier beginnen, und erstmal nur beobachten, lernen, zusammenpuzzeln. Wie Jesus, der 30 erstaunliche Jahre nur gelernt und gearbeitet hat. Erst dann hat er losgelegt.
- kein bestehendes Gemeindemodell kopieren
- ein Konzept erstellen, in dem das „Gehen“ im Vordergrund steht, nicht das „Kommen“. D.h. Christen gehen dahin, wo die Leute sind und leben und erwarten weniger, dass die Leute dahin kommen, wo die Christen sich treffen.
- herausfinden, wie das Leben hier funktioniert. Was ist wichtig heute? Was nicht? Worüber sorgt man sich? Worüber nicht? Wo liegen gesellschaftliche Probleme? Was sind Tabus? Was wird gebraucht? Welche Fragen sind offen?
- herausfinden, warum Kirche als irrelevant empfunden wird. Was können wir davon lernen? Welche Fehler gilt es zu vermeiden?
- herausfinden, was wirklich gute Nachrichten für die Menschen sind. Was hat die Bibel zu dem zu sagen, was wir oben herausgefunden haben?
- es wäre unser Wunsch, etwas in Gang zu setzen, das ins Schwarze trifft, was ins Gespräch der Leute kommt, was sich selbstständig fortsetzt, eine kleine Bewegung wird, von der viele hören.
- Es ist unser Wunsch, vor allem anderen Jesus als unserem Vorbild zu folgen, uns durch Gebet, Bibelstudium, Literatur und Gespräche mit anderen inspirieren zu lassen in dem Vertrauen, dass Gottes Geist uns leitet.
Vielen von Euch war das ja sowieso schon klar. Aber weil dies unsere wichtigsten Ausgangspunkte und Voraussetzungen sind unter denen wir hier arbeiten und die wir uns auch selber immer wieder vor Augen halten müssen, sollen sie hier noch mal erwähnt werden. Morgen oder nach dem Wochenende werde ich Euch eine Graphik vorstellen, die zeigt, was bis jetzt daraus geworden ist und unsere bisherigen Ideen zusammenfasst. * * *Our concept so far (1): Starting points and prerequisites
Prior to our move to Sweden we were told about a shrinking church in Sweden. By that they meant all different churches and denominations, no matter what kind of label they bear. Exceptions proof the rule, of course, but generally it can be said that the body of Christ (that’s the biblical name for “church”) is becoming smaller. “We need new ideas!” we were literally told. We are convinced that biblical truths and especially the good news of Jesus Christ ist still needed and should also be known in the 21st century – maybe now even more than during the last centuries. Because of that we wanted and still want:
- to start like a white sheet of paper, just observing, learning, doing a cultural jigsaw puzzle. Just like Jesus who just learned and worked for about 30 years. It was not until then that he got going with his popular ministry.
- not just to copy any already existing church or church model
- to create a concept that emphasizes “GOING to” rather than “COMING to”. That means Christians are going to places where people are and do not expect so much people to come to places where the Christians are.
- to find out how life works here. What’s up and important today? What’s not? What are concerns, and what do people care about and what not? What and where are problems and challenges of society? What are taboos? What is needed? Are there questions without answer?
- to find out why church is considered to be irrelevant. What can we learn by that? Which mistakes are to be avoided?
- to find out what is really good news for the people. What is it that Scripture has to say to all the issues we found out above?
- It is our desire to start something that hits the target, which is relevant and will be under discussion of many, something that will be self propelling, that will become a small movement many will hear about.
- Most of all it is our desire to follow Jesus as our model, getting inspired by him through prayer, Bible study, literature, discussing with others; trusting that God’s spirit will guide us.
Many of you knew already what we do here. But since those principles are our most important starting points and prerequisites we want to mention them again. After all, we have to remind ourselves repeatedly of that. Either tomorrow or after the weekend I will present an illustration to you about our results so far, summarizing our ideas.
