Dies war die letzte Spielwoche der schwedischen Basketballsaison. Jeder Proficlub hat das Recht, maximal zwei ausländische Profis „einzukaufen“ und mitspielen zu lassen. Die Göteborger Mannschaft „Gothia“ lieβ in der letzten Saison Darnell aus den USA und Chris, ehemaliger britischer Nationalspieler, für sich spielen. Beide waren für die Zeit ihres Schwedenaufenthaltes auch ein Teil der internationalen Gemeinde „Fishers Creek“, zu der auch wir immer wieder mal gehen und an deren Jugendarbeit Ole teilnimmt. Um Gothia bei ihrem letzten Spiel also so richtig anfeuern zu können, ist die ganze Fishers Creek Jugendgruppe hingegangen – und siehe da, sie haben gewonnen! Gegen den Tabellenersten. Was für ein Abschluss. Sie wären besser mal jedes Spiel mitgegangen. Dann wäre Gothia Tabellenerster geworden!
Go, Gothia, Go!
This was the last week of the Swedish basketball season. Each professional club is allowed to “buy” two players max from abroad and let them play in their team. The Gothenburg club “Gothia” had Darnell from USA and Chris, former player of the British national team, playing for them during the past season. And both of them were part of Fishers Creek, the small international church in the South of Gothenburg we still attend every now and then. Our son Ole participates in their youth ministry. The Fishers Creek Youth decided to corporately cheerlead Gothia in their last match this week. And Gothia won! They won versus the winner of the entire league. What a finish! The youth group should have been cheerleading at each of their matches. Then Gothia would have been winners of the league!
